About the Baker

I started baking in high school, often baking cookies for friends and my favorite teachers. In my early 20’s, I was broke and living in NYC. I often spent my one day off a week baking or cooking something new. Smitten Kitchen and Pioneer Woman were the first food blogs I started reading, and I regularly tried their recipes on those days off. They basically taught me how to cook and bake.

After moving back to Minneapolis, the recipes started getting more and more elaborate. I started baking all the birthday cakes for my coworkers, allowing them to choose any flavor combination they wanted. Those cakes were ugly, but delicious. After years of dreaming, I started doing farmer’s markets in 2019 with loaf cakes, scones, and drop cookies. I didn’t know anything about decorating cakes, and have only learned in the last 2 years. I’m constantly learning new techniques through trial and error, fellow bakers, food blogs, and YouTube videos.
